Spreading from Newmarket to Ponsonby, the CBD is the heart of the
city. It is also the commercial centre of Auckland City, with more
than one hundred |
thousand people coming in daily to work, study,
and shop. The CBD is the place in Auckland to spend a day or a night.
By day you can go shopping in the hundreds of shops, selling
everything from fast food to gold jewelry, in both Downtown and
Newmarket;
Go sight-seeing: down to the
Waterfront and the Viaduct Basin, go
up the Sky Tower, with its incredible 360° views of Auckland, or
catch a link bus to the Auckland Museum and browse the wonderful
exhibits.
Or you could just sit at a café in Ponsonby and watch the world go
by as you sip your coffee.
At night, you can go out to one of the many restaurants dotted
about Auckland Central. Both Ponsonby and Parnell house eateries
with excellent food and service, as do the Viaduct Basin,
Newmarket, and Sky City. After dinner, you can go out to any of
the various bars, pubs, and clubs around the city.

Parnell is situated within 20 minutes walk of the central city and
is also serviced by the Link bus service, as is Newmarket. |
On Gladstone Road in Parnell is the beautiful Parnell Rose Gardens a
lovely park that also houses a conference centre which is used often for weddings. The shopping in
Parnell is quaint and specialises in fine paintings/gourmet foods
and exclusive fashion designs. A must for the serious shopper who
values the fine things in life.
Parnell also has numerous eateries
and night clubs/bars for the enjoyment of all from students to
businessmen.
